No, actually, money screams! 

The matriarch has had her last three eye appointments cancelled and replaced with one in April, which would have made her more than a year overdue for her AMD check-up...in the meantime, her good eye has been getting progressively worse until she could barely see at all, which for a woman whose life is writing and literature is the worst thing that could possibly happen.

But then big bro stepped in and said, get it done privately and I'll pay for it.  So on Friday, baby sis phoned the consultant on his private mobile, graciously provided by his private secretary, and by Sunday the eye was lasered and the matriarch's vision restored...what is it coming to when people are left distressed and deprived of medical treatment because of their age?  How many other elderly men and women are suffering in silence for want of a few hundred pounds to make the consultants leave their golf clubs in the boot of the car for once and do their job?
